Really solid bop jam session. I don't get a rigid structure here, but rather just an awesome amorphous sorta give-and-take between talented jazzers. The piano lines are the crowning glory of this piece...sections like the eye of the storm at 2:00 and the piano breaks around 3:30 to closing are quite beautiful, and just ooze urban nostalgia. Some of the effects you pull on that guitar make me jump! Seriously, it sounds more like a set of breath and moan samples than somebody fooling around on the guitar sometimes.

This couldn't have been easy Disbelief Serious polyphony! Clapping

Mmmmmmmm... This sounds like a a jam out on the beach, letting what fills you come out clearly, if not chaotically... It's been a good while since I heard your music... It's so blue and peaceful... Wonderful work for a Wonderful life...

I love the randomness and free style - a very cool jam Cool Excellent piano/guitar interaction. I like the change to the quieter, more mellow passage and the way it gathers pace then jumps back in again. Very nice work indeed! Thumbs Up

Actually, the word bebop sort of spooked me, because I associate that with gratuitous wanking and jigsaw type melodies. Charlie Parker innovated, then legions came along and imitated -- the legacy is that the art of the jazz ballad and the clever turn of musical phrase was once an endangered species.

BUT, this tune is definitely not a pretender. I'd classify it more as post-bop or West Coast style jazz, the era when cooler heads prevailed and 200 bpm wasn't considered a slow tune. See, sometimes I'm dense, and I should have caught that you said bebop INSPIRED.

I also like that you have chosen to use a grittier guitar sound. Man, I hate weak guitar. I know a lot of folks like Jim Hall, but for me, he murdered his guitar tone -- what did he have the tone knob turned to, anyway, minus 2? Give me the bright sound of Grant Green anyday.

So in short, tasteful and well done.

It wanders in a way that resonates a lot with my brain waves. I sync with the jam very easily. I ride the waves and changes very comfortably. Their unpredictability is in-phase with my musical tastes.

Nice production: you set-up a wonderful illusion. You communicate the space of the room and the mood of the musicians.
